Internship
This summer I am working on the campaign team for Steve Howard for Lieutenant Governor of Vermont. I am extremely excited to be taking on this opportunity to learn the ins and outs of a political campaign. I will be working hands-on with various fundraising aspects, communications and event planning. I can't wait to see what this summer will have in store. Check out Steve's webpage!
One Reason Why I Love Vermont
Burlington, Vermont is participating in the painted animal fundraiser attraction thingy that major cities do to bring tourists to their areas. Read more about it in this Burlington Free Press article:

Strangest College Paper Yet
For my final lit. paper this semester I was instructed to create a seven page script incorporating at least one character from each of the seven works we studied, all based around a common motif. I have to create a modern setting and give them all something to talk about staying true to each of their characters.
Now, while this may sound like fun to some of you, MY heart dropped into my stomach when this paper was assigned. I do NOT consider myself a very creative person, and for as much as I like to talk, I couldn't imagine having to create scripted dialogue.
Yesterday before class I bounced some ideas off of other students in the class and last night I finally started writing (it's due tomorrow of course). What I have come up with is taking a female character from each of the plays:
Bible - Eve
Oedipus Plays - Antigone
The Odyssey - Helen
The Penelopiad - Penelope
Sir Gawain and the Green Knight - Lady Bertilak
The Tempest - Miranda
The Things They Carried - Mary Anne
QUITE the random assortment!

They are college students hanging around on a Friday night. They decide to go to a party and as would be expected with these particular women and their friends, chaos ensues. I haven't finished the script entirely, but I've put together all of my ideas for it. And you know what? I'm actually having fun writing it! I'm pretty pleased with the way it's turning out. Maybe I'll post it here later if anyone is interested.
